topic Scaling and Coordinate issues between VSP3D and FBX imported files in 3ds Max Forum

I have been trying to import both an FBX and VSP3D file into 3DS Max and have been having problems with them coming in different locations at different scales. Here is my workflow. I have taken care to try and make sure all programs are set in the same units. But this could still be an issue if I have missed a setting somewhere.

1. Start model in Infraworks

2. Export model to as an IMX and FBX

3. Open the infraworks IMX in Civil 3D (using the coordinate system set by Infraworks).

4. Export the Civil 3D file to VSP3D format.

5. Launch 3DS Max and Import the FBX file, then launch Civil View and import geometry from the VSP3D file. I am using the VSP3D for roadway geometry (feature lines and alignments mostly) and the FBX as the 3D model baseline.

I cannot figure out where there is an error in translation as everything comes from the initial Infraworks model and I have maintained that coordinate system in Civil 3D as well.
