I`m afraid there is nothing you can do here really. This is long-standing inherent issue with the current implementation of path-constraint for not really having any up-node control.

You can probably try @Anonymous`s PathConstraintAxis as it doesn`t have this problem.

I'm not very experienced with 3ds Max, perhaps there's a rather simple solution:

I'm trying to simulate an airplane on a path using a point helper with path constraint. Point helper moves along the path, airplane too. But at position 240 in the timeline the point helper suddenly changes it's orientation, resulting in a 90 deg roll along the path. Later on similar appears.

Can anyone help out? Archive (2019 files) is attached.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for this hint, Gernot. Actually I'm trying to get used to MCG through some tutorials.

I'll come back later with a result.

No result until yet, because I'm still looking at MCG samples.

But I think, that Gernot's answer can be accepted as solution.

Done now. Thanks, Gernot

Meanwhile I've installed Vu Nguyen's (vusta) PathConstraintAxis.mcg. It's pretty good, but not totally perfect right now.

Good: No more big flipping of airplane while moving along the path

Improvement needed: Airplane does slight rolling along the path (about 20 deg)

Actually I'm placing additional keys along the timeline for compensation.

I've contacted Vu Nguyen in this matter. He's looking for causes of this behavior.

FYI: Vu came back with tips for better behavior, and a new version of PathConstraintAxis at Gumroad.

Great support.
