this gets installed with 3ds Max 2019

look in your BDSP 2019 install media directory: \x64\RX

do you see a RXM.msi? if so just double click and it will install this

@DarrenPI can only see a RXN directory, no RX.

looks like you will have to download 3ds Max 2019 and extract the install & install the msi by going here: Autodesk\Autodesk_3ds_Max_2019_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit\x64\Revit

It is located under the Revit directory.

Thanks for getting this on my radar @DarrenP 😄

So Revit Interoperability for 3ds Max is not installed for 2019, and it's coming up with errors when you try to install it? That sounds super frustrating! I'm hoping that this article on troubleshooting the issue can help.

Is it possible the package wasn't downloaded in full? These programs most likely would come with a .exe file that you can run to complete installation. If you find that the article isn't helping out, please let me know and I can reach out to someone in Installation & Licensing to help with this issue.

Had to download 3ds Max 2019 (standalone) and reinstall.

If I remember correctly I had the same issue with BDS 2018.

this was an issue with building design suite last year with mental ray you had to download 3ds max instead to get the install for it

Seems to be an issue every year. I have yet to have this install during a full Building Design Suite installation.

Hi everyone,

I'm super happy that this thread was able to help out with downloading Revit Interoperability for 3DS Max 2019!

I would like to follow up though, what exactly worked with this issue? From my understanding, @DarrenP has been able to see the dropdown download link when Installing 3DS Max standalone, but @-FDC- hadn't gotten the dropdown and tried rooting around in the file directory, but the .msi file didn't launch anything. What helped solve this for you @-FDC- and @chris_g_dyer?

Was any portion of this article helpful in this situation? I have another user encountering a similar issue where the drop-down for the Revit Interop is missing in 2019...I would like to point them in the right direction, but also would like to make sure I can help smooth this issue out for future use. Thanks for the feedback 😄

A new download of 3DS Max 2019 (standalone version) worked out for me.

Before this download 3DS Max 2019 was installed as part of the Building Design Suite Premium.

This is what I had to do also to get the Revit Interoperability for 3DS Max 2019 to install...what a hassle it is to have to go through this process for something that should be included in the initial suite setup. I wonder if the 'Revit Interoperability for 3DS Max 2019' is a choice during the Design Suite setup if one chooses to do a custom install rather than the default but I'm not willing to uninstall the whole suite and start over to find out. You would think if the choice is in the custom install that you would be able to go back to uninstall or modify the 3DS Max 2019 and have the Revit Interoperability option available as an option to choose but that is not the case the 3DS Max shows as a complete install.

I had the same issue with 2018 design suite but forgot about it during the year leading up to the 2019 release...maybe I'll remember to check into this before I attempt the 2020 release.

The standalone re-install of 3DS Max 2019 solved the problem for me by offering the Revit Interoperability for 3DS Max 2019 choice during the reinstallation process.

This article shoud sovle the problem on BDS 2018, but in 2019?

An afternote to the "setup.ini" fix for 2018; It does not work for 2019...just wanted to get that in there to save anyone from wasting their time with it.
