Hi @Anonymous

Sorry about this experience. Even if the older scene with legacy plugin dependencies is otherwise "incompatible" with 3ds Max 2018, it should not be crashing. Do you happen to have the crash report number, I can check on our end for any additional clues for a resolution. In the mean time, have you tried merging the scene with an empty 3ds Max 2018 scene? Sometimes this does the trick better than a regular file-open workflow.

I have a model that is rather old. If i remember right it was 3DS 2012. I exported the scene with the OgreSceneExporter for the Ogre Render Engine. This exporter was a plugin.

Now i tried to oben the max again, but the plugin provider (orgemax) is off the market and the plugin is not available. If i try to load the file in max 2019 it says that dlls are missing and if i try to still open them 3dsmax crashed.

The Plugin specific information are not important - it would be important to get the geometry and animation back. Is there anyway to get rid of the plugin dependency? I know that there are cleaners, but the require to successfully load the file first...

I tried merging with same result.

1. I got the information that dlls are missing which i accept (say open)

2. I've got asked if i like to adapt scene or system LUT and i can already see all geometry names and layers in the layer overview

3. I got a hard hard hard crash - screenshot attached.

Report Number CER_179049179

Please say if i can help
