topic Max 2018 - Crash on Render to Texture in 3ds Max Forum

Hi.

I'm making normal maps for a non-commercial asset, kinda like for practice, using Scanline Renderer. I've set up my low- and hi-poly meshes and applied the proper projection modifiers.

The setup itself is fine. But the issue comes when clicking "Render" on the Render to Texture window. I have my output slot set as "bump", texture type "NormalsMap"

So I hit Render, and the texture outputs fine, including the PNG at its proper place. But then immediately Max will crash with the window on the Screenshot attached. There seems to be absolutely nothing I can do to prevent this crash.

Specs:

HP laptop, latest Windows 10 update.

3ds Max 2018 student license.
