If you set the path outside the OneDrive folder, does the problem go away? There may be an issue with rights management on the folder in a OneDrive location. If that doesn't help, I think we can discount the asset tracker. (Thanks for the screenshot.) You can leave the Vault off, it's a version control and you aren't likely using Vault.

The next thing to try (as a test) is to merge all that stuff into a new scene. Does the problem resolve?

I'm not even trying to render, which is what most of the posts online are about. I purchased a tutorial online (a reputable one), and when I first was using it on my laptop, it opened fine. Now, I'm on my desktop, and the file suddenly isn't opening fine anymore. I get about 40 Image I/O errors that I have to click "Cancel" through. I get this whenever I open the file, and whenever the autosave happens. Does anyone know what's causing this?

The materials that were included with the tutorial also aren't showing up properly on my desktop.

Hello @ethan.penn6,

That's strange. I wonder if it's somehow related to your paths. If you go into your Asset Tracker, do the paths work for your desktop? (Meaning, are they valid?) If not, select the assets and hit "Set Path" and update all the paths to the folder with your assets.

Or, maybe you have a ton of render elements trying to find a path that doesn't exist on your desktop. If you remove (or update) the render elements, does the problem go away?

I suppose you could also try to Merge the scene into and empty one and see if that helps. If it does, it points toward F10 settings as a possible thing to look at.

Best Regards,

Thank you for the reply, @Diffus3d.

I opened the Asset Tracker using Shift + T and found that everything said "found" but the Autodesk Vault says Logged Out. I went up to Options and found that "Disable Asset Tracking" had a checkbox next to it. I unchecked that, and suddenly everything is marked with unknown status. I'm not sure if I did this correctly. I selected individual assets and used the Set Path option to guide them to where the asset is. As soon as I hit OK, the Image I/O error appears again for that individual asset, and unknown status remains, even though I'm linking it directly to the asset.

As for the render idea, that's what I was thinking too, since most people online with an Image I/O problem are having a rendering issue. I've never ever messed with rendering in Max, so I'll poke around. But if I can figure out the Asset Tracker stuff and that solves the problem, that would also be great.

What should I do at this point? I attached a screenshot. Thanks!
