Hey there! Sorry to hear about your 3ds Max 2009 troubles. The "pxplugin.dlm" file is a plugin related to PhysX, which handles physics simulations in 3ds Max. If you're not using physics features (like cloth or rigid body dynamics), you might not need it, and deleting it could be a fine workaround.

Error code 126 usually means a module can’t be found, often due to missing dependencies or a corrupt file. Since updating C++ didn’t fix it, try reinstalling the PhysX plugin from the Autodesk site for your version, or grab a fresh copy of "pxplugin.dlm" from a legit 3ds Max 2009 installation. Restart after that, and it should hopefully work. If not, let me know, and we’ll dig deeper!

Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. I've been experiencing a problem with 3ds Max 2009 for the past three days. Whenever I start the software, I encounter the error: "pxplugin.dlm failed to initialize, error code 126."

To troubleshoot, I have updated all my C++ files, but that didn't solve the issue. I also restarted my PC, yet the problem persists. Interestingly, when I delete the pxplugin.dlm file, 3ds Max runs without any issues.

My question is: What is the purpose of the pxplugin.dlm file? Do I need it? If so, how can I resolve this problem?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I look forward to any assistance you can provide.

Google tells me that pxplugin.dlm is related to PhysX.

Did you update graphics drivers recently?

Maybe anything in here is useful? https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/help-with-physx-plugin-installation/td-p/4111295
