Changing 3ds max Root folder every time I open different project

I have actually 2 different max project, with 2 different project root folder set. But when I open the file, and check the root folder, the default path and root folder is changed to the file I worked last time on it. I don't want that because I almost lost yesterday my file, on what I was working for 2 months, because was overwritten in wrong autoback folder. Good luck, I was able to restore overwritten version from OneDrive. This stupid program is changing on his own the root folder, and I don't want that. I want each folder to have static, and determinate root folder. Not from last edited project, which can erase and overwrite my files.

What version of 3ds Max are you using?

To set a root project folder that 3ds max 2019 remembers, I first open the appropriate scene, and then navigate to File > Project > Create Default you cen then select the root file path you want for the given project. Here is what that looks like on my machine.

When changing between scenes in different projects, 3ds max will warn that the file you are opening isn't in the current project you have open. That warning looks like this.

Tnx for your reply. I'm using Max 2018, seems like I don't have that option. I'll check more, maybe I can add that.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tested the [set project folder] option in 2018 and experienced the same issue as you did. It looks like this feature was revisited in 2019 as I outlined above. I'm not sure if the development team is planning to revisit this issue in 2018.

You may need to either set your project every time you switch between them, or work from the same project folder if possible.
