I'm using max to create a modular environment and have been using the following workflow:

1) Create each asset and 'build' the scene in Max itself

2) Export the scene to Unreal Engine

3) Start texturing each asset

While texturing a specific asset, I came across a faulty UV which was an easy fix. However... The asset has been duplicated approximately 36 times around the scene. I made the fix to one of the 36 identical objects and now I'm looking for a way to replace the other 35 identical objects in the same scene with that one updated object. Does Max have a functionality for that?

I could delete all the 35 non-updated objects and manually replace them with the updated object, but that would be a lot of work and possibly quite a pain..

Can anyone help me out? Or does anyone have a great idea / workaround? I really hope so!

Thanks in advance 🙂 !!

You can instance a Substitute modifier across all the 35 objects (by selecting all the objects and put the modifer on them) and select the fixed one in it. This will replace all 35 objects with the one that you fixed. Further changes of this object will propagate to all other objects.

You should probably also look into instance/reference workflows in the future.
