Ok, so I found a solution!!

You can import the FBX in Maya and then export it into 3ds Max.

I don't know why, but there is something wrong with 3ds Max's reading of the vertex colors initially with Tiltbrush files.

Hi, I can't english well:(

I use 3dsMax 2019.

I paint vertex color in Cinema4D and export FBX file.

I do Import FBX in 3dsMax, vertex color is broken.

Firsttime I thought C4D was wrong.

but I do Import same FBX file in Blender and Unity too.

They has no problem.

Cinema4D → Blender → 3dsMax is OK.

So I want to your help.

I have the same issue here. I'm exporting an fbx from Tilt Brush and it imports into Unity correctly but not 3ds Max.

It looks like the vertex colors are being reassigned on import. I'm not seeing any option for triangulation or welding on import.

Almost like it's deviding the vertex number by 2 when assigning colors?

Just to shed a little light on this issue. I am able to re-export the mesh from Houdini by promoting the point class to the vertex class as below:

This will import correctly into 3ds Max.

Another solution to the problem was to export from Unity using FBX Exporter.

It would still be useful to understand why this doesn't work when importing directly into 3ds Max from the Tilt Brush export, if I've missing something and if there's a solution for importing into 3ds Max directly from Tilt Brush.

My thoughts are that the FBX importer is using a per face colour and reading them as vertex colours, which would result in something like the above rainbow example as it would have assigned all the face colours to approximately the first third of total vertices.

@AnonymousI am trying Houdini for the first time, could you let me know what you did to obtain this dialog box in Houdini?

Also, did you ever find a streamlined solution to get Tiltbrush color vertexes to appear consistently in Unity or 3ds Max?

Thank you!
