Hi @Anonymous

I agree with @Anonymous and @irishman_team_kilber that there is a learning curve with 3ds Max, but I would also note that it depends on the end result.

For example, you can get a pretty good topographical height map by using the displace modifier in 3ds Max, here is more information about that. It pretty much takes a black and white image, and calculates mesh height based off the image. Like this below image.

*Note: this works best with greyscale images, and complex mesh that needs certain, deformable/animated mesh would need to be hand modeled.

How can I do that?

Thanks in advance!

there are tons of tutorials out there it all depends on what you are thinking of modeling, most artist use 2d images for example architectural design cad/floorplans, weapons modeling, character modeling etc,

i would start off with the 3ds max tutotials if you have not already done them. are you gonna make this a career or is it just a hobbie?

Hello,

So here is the question. I wanted to make a 3D Model of a luggage and the designer I hired asked me to take pictures from all directions and above/below of it. From those images he has created a 3D Model of the luggage. Because of the language barrier he couldn't explain my how he did it and by the time we lost contact. I would like to learn the methods that he used.

Hello @Anonymous

Great to hear from you again!

I would recommend checking out some basic 3d Modeling videos, here is one to get you started 😄

To model from a reference image, you can follow the process outlined in this video here.

I hope this helps!
