topic Export from revit to 3ds max via fbx troubles in 3ds Max Forum

I'm currently trying to reference an fbx file made in revit into a scene in 3ds max, when this happens the referenced file comes through with many of the materials as multimat and some of the objects welded together as the the same multimat despite being different materials in revit; for example a door made up of 3 different elements each with a different material are now only editable as one material. I've done this process many times and often set the actual materials in 3ds max's material editor but have never had this problem before. I am only really familiar with 3ds max for rendering purposes so don't know where to start with this problem. Any help would be really appreciated, thank you

PS I've recently seen some similar posts on this and adjusting the gamma doesn't seem to make any difference
