topic Unable to use multiple viewports in 3ds Max Forum

Just installed 3ds max 2020, I'm having a problem that I can't see anything if I have multiple viewports, it just lags and that section of the screen freezes. I can use only one viewport with no issue. Now also realised that I can't seem to use unwrap uvw because the uvw editor will not show anything (and I'm assuming it's probably the same issue happening again).

computer specs:

Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

16gb RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

64bit

Acer Aspire VX5-591G

running Windows 10 Home version 1903

Hi Danni,

Thank you for your question! It looks as if you're running an external monitor (or several?) from an Acer laptop (I don't know if you're just using a cable setup or if Acer has a docking station for this).

Can you make sure that the laptop and 3ds Max are defaulting to use the high-power Nvidia GPU, instead of switching to a lower-power onboard GPU instead? The information in this article can show you how to set this up. (I also recommend updating to the latest graphics drivers for you Nvidia GPU.)

Please let us know if this helps, and we hope to hear from you soon!
