    <description>&lt;P&gt;It looks like that is it. The edge has to have quads on both sides. If it doesn't then edge loop selection will not work.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;When I press ctrl+doubleclick on an edge, the edge loop selection will not be activated, something I always use. This happens even if I create a new cylinder and try it on the edge segments of the face of the cylinder and when I click on the loop button. What could be the reason?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I am noticing that using inset command on face of cylinder, then trying edge loop selection on the same outer edge, it works.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Loop works with quads, so if you have 5 sided faces surrounding it, it gets confused and stops there.&amp;nbsp; That's why the inset allows it to work again.&amp;nbsp; Is that what you mean?&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;It's the same in a number of other software I use.&amp;nbsp; I guess it can't be sure it's a loop unless it knows the lay of the land.&amp;nbsp; Thanks for the confirmation.&lt;/P&gt;
