Restart 3ds Max to clear memory, then try reloading the scene file. If the error persists, try the following: Restart 3ds Max. Choose the File menu.

Greetings,

Peter

Ive been using 3ds max 2021 for a while - its been pretty stable. Today when I went to load I get repeated errors on loading. I have the 2021.2 update loaded. Apparently with 2021 there is no "Repair" option on the install. All previous versions offer it, but not 2021. Frustrating. After about 5 or 6 attempts it did load error free... I had to close it, now I cant seem to get it to open without errors. I also tried opening it in Administrator mode just for fun. Same errors.

Thanks

Here are some of the many errors:

<LI-CODE lang="general">Error Loading Plug-in DLL
DLL <c:\program files\autodesk\3ds max 2021\plugins\desipher.gup> failed to innitialize.
Error code 183 - Cannot create a file when that file already exists.</LI-CODE><LI-CODE lang="general">-- Error occurred in anonymous codeblock; filename: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2021\stdplugs\(CivilView)\CivilViewStartup.ms; position: 2807; line: 63

repair won't do any good all your doing is overwritting files, if your overwrtting bad file then that won't fix the problem,

the first error is some kind of plugin that has failed to initialise if you reinstall that plugin then that error should go away.

the third error i am just speculating is python that MAYBE to do with a windows update,

CivilView error check this link out see if this helps

IMHo i would just backup all your scenes and do a clean reinstall of 3ds max Perform a clean uninstall

does anyone else have access to your computer, a younger brother/sister? if so then maybe they remove or delete some files from your add/remove programs or the hard drive look in your Recycle Bin and see if there are any files there and restore them if the Recycle Bin is empty then there is nothing you can do.

Do you have a password on your windows admin account if not set one up

Since I couldn't find a Repair option with the 2021 installer I uninstalled and reinstalled and that seems to have fixed my issue.
