I just tried Perspective Match and had no issues. Is this a new install of Max? Or, has it been working fine and then all of a sudden, it's broken? Or, is this the first time you've touched it and it's malfunctioning? Those questions might help diagnose it. Also, what are your machine specs, video card (updated drivers?), etc.

Hi RobH2

I've been using it for years in all the other max version. Now 3 of my team can not get it done, me included.

When I click one of the handles (xyz) all the handles move slightly taking them out of alignment again.

We all installed the new max 2022. it worked fine in max 2021.

Ok, so this is something you are experienced with and now it's not working. That's significant.

Makes me wonder what all of those machines have in common? Same video card, same processor, etc.? I'm wondering if there is something unique to your machines that is causing the conflict. Not that I'm the gold standard for Max 2022 but it works perfectly for me.

I'd be curious to see if other users post in that they are having issues. Then that might signify a bug.

Look closely at all the affected machines and see if there is a common thread in the hardware or customization that might lead to finding the cause. Being that it's you and your team, it implies that you may have built or bought identical machines for all of you?

If you feel like trying something, can you upload a simple file that is malfunctioning (along with any textures, environment maps, etc. -- so that it opens without missing elements) and let me see how it does on my machine? I can do the same, upload a file that "is" working well on my machine.

That's sort of how it works. It's a little funky but you have to use the outer end of the match lines and drag them maybe too far from the reference edge and then grab the middle of the match line and pull it back down. Do these little tweaks over and over and it will start to line up. Each time you do it, the adjustment lines will move the others out of place less and less. You'll eventually have it perfect.

I attached a video of me doing one if it helps.

I hear ya. One thing we can count on in life is “nothing ever stays the same.” While it may function differenly, it still functions in a pinch. Maybe a bug makes it function strangely, but you can still achieve a good match. I’d report it as a bug but it could just be that the new recompile of Max made it necessary to have it work differently. I’m not a coder or part of Autodesk so I can’t say that for sure. Maybe Alfred or Jon will weigh in.

Bottom line, even with a little frustration, you can still achieve a good match, I hope, so you can finish your project. I don’t thinks it’s “broken” as much as it’s just different. 🙂

If it helps - I have the same issue with three computers with totally different specs. bought under a long period of time.
1 - Workstation - Intel based, i7 quad core (custom made by my employer).
2 - Laptop - DELL, Intel based, i9, 32GB RAM (six month old)
3 - Workstation - Private purchase, AMD based - 5950X and Nvidia 3060Ti ( a few days old).
So for me there seems to be no obvious common features in the specs to look for here.
I have no problems on any of theese machines on previous version of max.
🙂

Actually, it is still useful and works well, differently, but well. You just have to make little adjustments and with a bit more back and forth it will work just fine. You just drag ends little by little and you'll get there. I use it all the time. I know it's different, but it's not useless.
