where is symmetry weld threshold in max 2022

It's been removed for some reason. There is another thread going on the forum that discusses it more. Search for that for more info.

Well not really if you are willing to think about it differently. Go ahead and do the 'Symmetry' but leave 'Weld Seams' unchecked. Then add an 'Edit Poly' on top and you'll have two elements. Use the good old 'Edit Vertices/Weld' tool by opening it and using the 'Threshold.' It's the same thing, just a few extra steps. When you have exactly 1/2 the number of vertices, you know you have a good welded seam.

While it's probably not your preference, it does give you a way to do nice welds until 'Symmetry' gets the feature added back in.

Please add the weld threshold again, 3dsmax 2022 is unuseable without it.

Unfortunately (ignoring that your suggestion adds an incredible amount of effort that the symmetry tool is supposed to save, and makes iterating the mesh after changing the polygonal structure much slower) the problem is with the 'Slice along mirror' option and not the weld seams option as most people have posted. If you have 'Slice along mirror' turned on, it looks like some kind of internal vertex merging/welding is going on before it then mirrors and welds the seam. There's zero control over the threshold of this welding (and no way to disable it), but it's roughly ~0.01 units based on testing - definitely not outside the realm of possibility for people modelling normal sized things.

Turning off 'Slice along mirror' is one option, but this isn't compatible with the main reason a lot of people are using symmetry (ie. modelling half a character or object and mirroring it along the center). Unfortunately the only workaround I've found so far is to work on a bigger scale (it has to be absolute bigger-scale too, not just resizing an object/group bigger) and then scaling down at the end.

This also doesn't happen under identical circumstances in 2021 (or even when loading a Max 2021 scene with an existing symmetry modifier), so using Max 2021 is another workaround. It's something to do with the fancy new Symmetry modifier that behaves slightly differently.

I had spoken to support and hoping this is fixed in 2022.1 as it's a massive workflow hindrance for anyone modelling game assets or models at small sizes. The new functionality of multi-axis and capping is really useful in symmetry so hopefully they can fix this quickly.
