topic Re: How do I instantly create a new vertex with a centered point? in 3ds Max Forum

For the first one question I would set the snapping to "Midpoint" and then enable snapping before you insert a vertex.

For your second question, in the Edit Poly modifier you can set the constraint to Edge or even Face depending on what you want.

I'm used to using C4D, and I liked how you can grab an edge and instantly create a new vertex that was perfectly centered. In 3DS max, I have to select insert vertex and it just goes on wherever it wants...

Also, C4D let me slide a vertex along an edge without any distortion and it followed the line... does 3ds max have something like that?
