topic Is it possible to use PNG icons for toolbars? in 3ds Max Forum

Adding a custom shortcut to a toolbar in Max has always been a big hassly IMO. I like how they improved the hotkey system and wish they could do the same to toolbars.

Anyways, I wanted to add the Transform toolbox to my shortcut toolbar. Found it in the list and dragged it to a toolbar. Then I discovered it only shows a text button but there's no room for the full text, so it's not readable. In the EDIT menu it actually has an Icon, so I tried changing the appearance on the toolbar. Unfortunately I couldn't find the icon.

Then I found this script that can show you all icons in 3dsmax a and even save them out as files.

https://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/icon-viewer

I saved out the icon from there into my user icons folder, but it still didn't show up. So I added it to a dummy macro just so I could load the icon, but it was PNG files, not the old BMP format and it doesn't seem to show. I was just curios if PNG files are supported for macroscripts or not?

I also would like to know when, or if the toolbarsystem can get an overhaul? It seems antiquated to go through so much hassle for adding a shortcut.
