It looks like this and you can pin it wherever you want on the screen. There is a small problem: The panel does not behave as a dockable due to the large number of buttons. When you reduce the number of buttons, it becomes dockable. However, if you want to move it to the left or right of the screen, right-click on the panel and select the desired location from the Dock menu!

Enjoy

Hello,
I want to make the "modifier sets" buttons that I created in the Modify section of the interface an independent panel. So I want to move and drag it anywhere on the screen. Like creating a toolbar.
Is there a way to pin the place I marked in red to the green one on the screen? I tried to show what I wanted with screenshots. Is there a way to this?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely.

I've been using Max since version 1 and I've never know it to be able to let you tear off just one subpanel and float it. Maybe there is a 3rd party program than can do it but within Max by default I don't believe you can do this.

Thank you for your answer. I couldn't find any way. But I've seen some youtube videos of people who can do it. Actually, the reason I want this is because I place too many buttons. That's why the modifier panel slides down. This makes the interface and sub-object tools very useless when drawing. There must be a script for this, but I couldn't find it. If I had coding knowledge, I could do it, but unfortunately I don't know coding.

Sincerely

One way to solve it is to put the panel on a secondary monitor. Then your primary monitor will be a big canvas for drawing. Most people who do a lot of work with Max for a living find that you can't be very productive with one monitor. Two or better yet three monitors make the program much more usable and efficient.

Since my first monitor is ultrawide, it is a little troublesome to move the mouse to the second screen. I use a lot of modifiers in detailed scenes. I'm out of town at the moment so I can't look at the computer, but a solution came to my mind: Please see the screenshot. I always use the dock in 3 columns. Filling the entire 1st palette from the left with modifier sets buttons can solve this problem. So I think the sub-object will shift to the right. 👍

My normal setup for many years now has been just that, three columns and a nice big custom modifier set on the one closest to the viewport.

I saw a plugin in a few years ago on a tutorial. The modifiers were all in a custom floating window that could be moved around. I'm sorry I don't remember what it was called but if it's still alive you might be able to find it or something similar.

I think you have two choices:

1. Just get Rappa Tools. Easy solution.

2. Use the 'Customize' Menu in Max to make your own Toolbar. It won't stack vertically as it's a horizontal thing, but you can make it and stick it at the top or bottom of your workspace for easy access.

I use custom Button Panels myself, alot. But I'm happy where it is. I attached a screenshot of me starting to build out a Toolbar of the same thing. You could do it this way an make your own as well.

Hello,
First of all, thank you very much for your reply and interest.
1. I don't know how to use Rappa Tools and it's a really detailed plugin. Viewport settings are changing. However, I want a simple toolbar.
2. Yes, I do this, but for some reason, only the text part of some modifiers in max is visible, while in others only the icon is visible in the toolbar. In addition, Rappa Tools can stick to the place I show, while the toolbars you create inside the max do not stick to this section. It sticks to the far right of the screen. It's not a big deal, but it would be great if at least every modifier looked the same in the toolbar. Also, when you place icons in the toolbar you created in max (I place them alphabetically), you cannot scroll these icons. So let's say you accidentally added the edit poly modifier to the end of the toolbar. In this case, you need to delete all the icons in the toolbar and rearrange them from the beginning to bring this modifier to the top.

Thank you very much for your reply. If I find a way around it, I'll share it here.

In addition:
Here's how I do the workaround:

1. I open Max Script Listener in Max.
2. I activate MacroRecorder.
3. I place any mesh (for example box) on the scene and apply the modifiers in the modifier list to this box, respectively.
4. I drag the code that appears in Script Listener to the toolbar I created, select "text button" and save it.

This toolbar doesn't snap where I show it, but I can place it vertically to the left of the screen. This works great, but the only problem is that when you format your computer or reinstall Max, all commands are deleted. It gives an error like "Missing Script".

To rearrange items in toolbars Shift+drag (and drop). Doesn't have to be same toolbar.

To copy items in toolbars Ctrl+drag (and drop).

Thank you very much for this great information. I tried with CTRL as you said. But this only allowed me to copy the button. When I tried with SHIF nothing happened. There are two toolbars. One for Scripts and one for Modifiers. CTRL works in sdaece script toolbar. It didn't work in the modifier toolbar.

Ah, sorry it is Alt+drag.

And looks like it isn't working very smooth in newer versions of Max...

What a surprise😁

😂 I couldn't think of it because of the workload. And yes as you said... ALT+Drag worked

By the way it does what I want to do with a rollout floater. However, coding knowledge is required. I continue to research whenever I get the chance.

Thank you very much
