Hi, I have a model from a game, it's already rigged, textured etc.. it's made up by different mesh (chestarmor, and body). When I move a bone the chestpiece reacts well but the body stays still. After few days I figured out why:skin envelopes don't work. When I try to edit envelopes of the chestpiece it's all fine but when I select the body's envelopes I can't see colors and If I check "color all weights" the body turns black.I searched on web but I didn't find anything about it.I can still see the red lines of the envelopes and the dots on the body mesh but I think they're disabled or something like that so when I try to move a bone like clavicle or spine only the chestpiece reacts and the body does nothing. I hope somebody can steer me in the right way. When I export the model the body's skin modifier is deleted so If you want to examine the model you won't see the problematic skin modifier because 3ds max get rid of it.I'll post some comparison pics here so maybe you can see what I mean.

You have several problems that I can see that probably has nothing to do with the issue that you are seeing but still needs to be corrected.

First off the character is only 6 inches tall but it has been scaled to 254% of the original size. You need to Reset X Form on the mesh after scaling it to the right size. That being said all the bones will need to be moved as well and not scaled as you can't reset those.

Other then that the Skin modifier works perfectly on all parts here. Make sure that you don't have a subobject selection passing up to the skin modifier.

thanks for your answer I fixed reimporting the model with a different version of 3ds max

Should make no difference what version you use. Settings are the key.

yes but I was using a script to import that model and turns out that 3ds max 2017 wasn't supporting that script so the model was imported with a lot of problems.
