I have the same problem (among others in this buggy program).

I've had to solve similar problems by importing *.ini files from the web and/or other users.

I'm putting my reply here so that I'm hopefully notified if a solution is posted.

Currently I'm so tired of repairing problems in this program I'm moving on with my studies and leaving this stuff blank for now.

I've read that there is supposed to be a solution where you load a legacy/classic UI for this particular tool but I havent found a description on how to perform this change.

I've also read someone saying it can be fixed by changing the 3ds version from design but from my understanding that would also make several undesireable changes in the program.

Hello!
I have installed 3ds max 2018 and I have a problem with the window of the curve editor, because animation icons do not appear. I uninstalled MAX and reinstalled it and the problem persists. Does anyone know how it can be solved?

Go to your 3ds root folder.

(not your user settings)

Copy uncorrupted trackview.ini file from root cfg folder into user cfg folder.

I copied all the related files into the folder wich did the trick. Likely it was the trackview.ini that matters (I didnt try individually) but it wont hurt to copy them all anyway.
