topic Errors on Geometry that is not present? Simulation Mech 2015 in Simulation Mechanical Forums (Read-Only)

Hello. I am trying to import some 2d geometry and mesh accordingly for a 2d mirrored dynamic contact simulation. However, when I take my 2d geometry from inventor and export it as a dxf. and then import it into sim mech, I get an error that says the wireframe does not enclose the area and the problem areas are marked. Interestingly enough, the areas that it has marked have no geometry present or even in the remote vicinity. It has some random places out in space marked. I have followed line by line and arc by arc to make sure all of the geometry I see in the browser is accounted for and makes sense where it is at in my model. There simply is no geometry there. According to inventor the loop is closed, i can revolve, extrude or do whatever to the geometry. I am attaching my inventor 2014 original IPT file as well as the DXF I have. And a screenshot of my issue I'm seeing in Sim mech. Please let me know what the issue is and how I can correct it...

Thank you,

I am looking at it now and it looks like it thinks the geometry is mirrored???

Hi dylan

you have to import your 2D geometry in to the YZ plane in order to 2D mesh it and use the 2D elements (not XY)
