This may help, kind of like locking the barn door after one of your horses got stolen, but better than nothing.

It will give you a small measure of control similar to Win7, but sadly you pretty much have to experience a problem before you can implement a maybe successful resolution.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026726/windows-10-hide-updates-or-driver-updates

At least they (M-soft) seem to be looking at scaling back their goal of twice yearly major feature overhauls, since half of each one seems to be attempts at fixing what they broke in the previous one....(I assume you are familiar with how to pause updates and defer feature updates?) These can at least postpone the potential pains until a time when you choose to spin the wheel and see if you win, or how big you loose...

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026834/windows-10-defer-feature-updates

I agree that the forced update thing sucks, I miss being able to choose updates that either had a bad rep or looked to be completely useless for me, and send them away (at least for a while).

Wow, Looks like I'm here b**ching too much....7 top posts...lol

It's my release I guess.

But Hey, Bill Gates....will you please stop with the Windows updates until AFTER AU2019?

Ever since I got a Windows update on Thursday, everything involved with my AU classes have been adversely affected.

This weekend...Office just stopped working. Everything I attempted to open with Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint all failed. Had to uninstall, repurchase and reinstall.

Add to that, one video in my presentation plays nothing but black screen. I've recreated it and everything, same deal. Why just that one video and why now? All the other videos I have play back fine. This video plays back fine in Windows media player, but once it's in the PPT, black screen.

The Elf is getting angry again.

Anyways, I'm ging to attempt to create this one video on my work puter and see if it plays correctly in the PPT.

If not, as Bill O'Reilly screamed "Screw it! I'll do it live! I'll do it live!"

oh, I'm glad I don't have to run conferences anymore. Trying to see which videos would play over the projector and which wouldn't was such a... we'll go with 'fun' experience. lol.

I eventually figured out what would play and what would give the black screen, but, can't remember it for the life of me now.

Oooof, I find the most annoying thing at the moment is windows wanting an update and deactivating people's old licenses making them dead (RIP versions 2010 and older) . Then having them rant and get fustrated.
