I just checked the laptop I previously used (until November last year).

That one had these specs:

Windows 10 Pro

Intel Core i7-8750H

Geforce GTX 1050

16GB RAM

500GB SSD

I only ran FCAM 2022 on this but never had any problems with performance. Can't attest to the newer version, though.

As for the i5, I have no idea if it's powerful enough to run it.

But from all the software I use, I think FCAM is one of the least demanding.

Other than during the long 3D simulation and big 5-axis toolpath computing it never stressed my system much.

Hi everyone, sorry if this question may be off topic however I wanted some advice on what configuration to use for FutureCam. I saw the recommended features and I was wondering if a radeon pro or a geforceRTX would also work as a video card, do you have any advice for me? Do you know any laptops to recommend for FutureCam? Thanks to those who will help me

I'm running FeatureCAM2024 on a laptop with these specs:

Windows11 Pro

Intel Core i9-13900HX

Geforce RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6

32GB DDR5-4800

Corsair MP600 Pro NH 1TB

I think it's a bit overkill for FCAM, but I'm running a lot of more power-demanding software on this thing, as well.

The laptop was around 2000€.

FCAM is running very smooth on this.

Hope this helps.

Okay I thank you, so do you think anyway with an i7 an rtx 3xxx series and less ram can run smoothly? With an i5 processor how do you see it? Too little core power? thank you very much for your help

At work I run an i5 with some some low end nvidia card, ( i don't recall offhand). At home, an older i7 with an RTX 3060.

NIGHT AND DAY. Any 3d simulation at work is painful. If there is surface milling, yeh go get coffee and take your time. At home, trivial.

Visually the 3060 makes it much easier to see things, especially in wireframe view.

Long story short, I do a lot of the more intensive things at home, its just less painful for me at the end of the day.

It seems that the more GPU you throw at it the better it is to use.
