Help.

I am trying to figure out the way to deck down the surfaces in red in the Image. Also machine the round and the "rectangular" Bosses shown. Notice that the round bosses are at a different height than the "rectangular profiles"

I plan to machine those surfaces, flip the Stock and repeat the operations on the other side. Finally hold the block on a Feature using the Holes to profile both parts around.

I have tried different options like a big Pocket with the Bosses as Islands but I end up cutting a lot of air. Also individual Bosses but I cannot or I do not know how to set boundaries to bosses.

Anybody please help.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

Without diving into it too deep, I'd suggest a Side operation with open curves.

There is absolutely no need for any 3D operation from what I can see.

Pick the boundaries, select the correct side to machine, click "Finish Bottom" and use a bullnose for a finishing tool.

Could someone please help me here?

I followed your leads and everything worked right. SetUp1 works perfect.

In SetUp2 "Face3" is coming out bad. I selected that face and created a Face Feature (Extract with Feature Recognition option activated) just like the other three faces, but this one is wrong.

It wipes out my Bosses.

I cannot see the Stepovers or Plunges Tabs. Totally different than Face5 which works right.

I am attaching an image of an Error Message FeatureCAM is throwing me over and over. Only for that face.

Please take a look.

Thank you in advance

Thanks

Just looking at this part, it seems symmetrical. Could you just run your same program on the other side as opposed to reprogramming everything? Similarly, you could create your other setup and just copy and paste the features into the flipped setup.

This is an ongoing problem in FeatureCam. For some reason it does not seam to follow the same (or maybe I should say opposite) path when approaching a face or side that is at an angle with a radius in it. I have run into this many times. So far no one has come up with a solution that I know of. I ended up doing one part as a side and the other as a face. Now these are 2 identical parts except one is right and one is left. I played around with everything trying to get it to work even sent it to my rep who almost always can get the program to do what he wants and even he had the same problem.
