ive messed with settings and tried over and over and cannot get my tool path to carve at a reasonable pace. can someone explain how to get this thing to carve faster. my current settings are averaging 4-5 hours per process

i do, but prefer not to use them. i know it will take longer, but i have a plaque for almost every team and some i can have done in a little over an hour. i try and set it up the same but the settings dont always translate. this particular one i can see that it raises the endmill a lot so it wastes a lot of time just moving

What type of machine are you using and can it handle a depth greater than 1mm?

You say 3 to 4 hours is this real-world or what fusion shows?

You can have the retract hight set to 1mm if there is nothing inside the area being cut higher than 1 mm.

You can have the clearances hight set to a depth where it will clear any object on the table if there is nothing higher than 10 mm set it to 11mm.

Having maximum roughing stepdown and fine stepdown can help a lot in some cases.

I am trying a few things I will post back soon

Not being able to increase the stepdown does not really leave many options you can increase the step over to the full width of the cutter.

Using a different toolpath may well be the better option see the attached file.

You could leave a bigger radial stock to leave and come back and clean up what's left with a contour toolpath.

using up/down cut high helix tools can help a lot with cutting material that chips easily they have been designed to do it.

i could never get pockets to work that way, this actually works well. and breaking up the different pockets actually increases the carving time because its not jumping as much. thanks for the help, and love the file name
