Kind of a strange bug. I have a bunch of letters I'm contouring to cut out. On two of the letters the contour freaks out and plunges into the material outside the contour. tried changing the way i select it and ensured that i didn't somehow select a random contour or something. Worked fine when i switchet to pocket the letters... though I figured that out after trashed 1 part.

I'm not freaking out to get this fixed i just thought it was strange enough that the Fusion 360 team may want to look at it.

https://a360.co/2S5GAdz

When you make contour selections with Sketch turned on, it favors the sketch over the model. I'll ask if this is something that can be improved upon. To (likely) solve your issue, turn off the sketch

As an aside, sharing the A360 link causes more work for those trying to help. To best help us help you, export and share the .f3d link

File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

Hi there,

I've had this problem before myself a few times, it can be a few things. One is that you had a small 'loop' or a small extension to the sketch, in the sketch geometry, so it essentially tries to follow the sketch around and in doing so tries to machine the other side of the loop or small extension.

Another is that there is a very small hard to notice cavity like so, that can only be seen by zooming in a lot:

Another is that lines are overlapping each other in the sketch, either creating a small gap or making the geometry loop back on itself, which the toolpath then tries to machine the other side, so just delete the lines and create one line instead to close the profile so you can perform the extrusion.

Try looking to see if these apply and let me know if it solves it. If it does, click "Accept Solution".

Thanks,

Graham
