What is your machine and controller, and are you using the correct post processor for this? I don't think I've heard of this problem before, so I would certainly welcome more information.

Is it that you are not able to execute the g-code file? Does it come out in a format that should be able to be read?

All the post processor does is basically produce a text document that you then feed into a machine. Unless you have something odd going on, this shouldn't be an issue.

When creating a post, the file is created with read and write persmissions for the user who created it, but no read access for anyone else. When the post is copied to the machine's computer, the permissions prevent it from being opened.

The permissions are easily changed before copying, but is there a way to set the default permissions of post files?

Fusion version 2.0.5357

macOS 10.13.6

I am not certain I'm following your question. By "post" do you mean posted g-code, or post processor?

When you say "copied to machine's computer" do you mean the CNC control or another person's computer?

Sorry.

By 'post' I mean the posted g-code file.

When I say 'copied to the machine's computer', I actually mean that the file is opened on the CNC machine's controller, which is a Windows PC.

Posted g-code file works fine, but when Fusion 360 creates the file, its creates the file with restrictive permissions. If I get info on the file on macOS, the following permissions are what the file is created with:

No access for everyone

As you can see, I can read and write the file, but no one else can. This is easily changed, but posted g-code is created from the computer in the office and saved to a network drive. If I don't change the permissions when new machine code is created, then no one else can open it.

I shouldn't have to alter the permissions. It should be created with less restrictive permissions.

I do have a Mac, but it's not on a network drive. As a test, I posted out some code to a USB stick. I then created a new user on the computer with "Standard" permissions. Logged in and setup the account, plugged in the USB stick and had no issue opening up the file. Is this not a similar scenario?

That would be a similar scenario.

When you output a g-code file, go to Finder, right click on the file and choose Get Info.

The permissions are down the bottom. What does it say next to everybody?

Regardless of what account I log in from on my Mac, all I see (under permissions) is:

"You can Read and Write". There is nothing about "Everyone".

I'm wondering if this needs more than one Mac on a network to troubleshoot...
