You mentioned Mach3.

There are updated MACH Turning post processors on the CAM Library website: http://cam.autodesk.com/posts/

<STRIKE>Not sure if there are the same version as what's contained in Fusion 360, but it's worth a shot</STRIKE>

Didn't realize that Fusion wasn't shipped with Mach turning posts. Might want to download post and give it a whirl.

Hi all,

I am trying to turn this shape. It's a pretty awkward boring job and what I struggle with is to get an accurate G-code

I am using Generic Fanuc Turning or Siemens the result is the same, the Z axis is correct the X axis is exactly the double. The cup radius is 25mm and I get lines such as this one:

N68 X45.816 Z-7.321
N69 X45.892 Z-6.253
N70 X45.947 Z-5.174
N71 X45.979 Z-4.086
N72 X45.983 Z-3.75

where 45.nnn is supposed to be the radius, therefore I would end up with a double diameter object... anybody experienced this?

Other strange thing that's happens is that it adds random circles at the bottom and at the edge of the cup.

They look like this on the code:

N22 G18 G3 X46.103 Z-2.392 CR=2.5
N23 G1 X46.125 Z-2.338

and like this in Mach3:

You can see those light blue scribbles at the bottom of the image and on the far left.

Yes I can edit the Gcode and delete them, but it would be great to fix this.

Does anybody have a clue on how to get around this?

Thanks,

Luca

I'm pretty sure you can set mach3 up to work in diameter mode. This has come up before and that user modified the post to output the radius, don't know why you'd do that though as it's a lot easier to work in diameter mode. The Fanuc post is set for diameter so it's correct for most lathes, your arcs will look odd because of this.

Hi thanks both for the precious input.

Setting Mach to Diameters fixed the width problem, the circles are staying, they are in the GCode after all.

I am trying to update my post processor files on the A360 Drive, it's trying to open (this will take a few minutes) for the past 20 minutes, once I have access I'll give this a try.

I suspect that (have a look at the project) the boring job I am trying to make is not quite right, it's facing and it's a spline, the software might just not like it and do those funny things you see in the picture.

On the page you set mach to diameter mode there should be an option to reverse arcs, try swapping that as well. After setting to diameter mode double check your X is moving the correct amount, you might need to adjust your steps per inch as well.
