3D ramp over interrupted face?

I need to mill a chamfer in a bore that has intersecting holes in it.

Ideally it would just be a 3d ramp doing constant circles, starting from the bottom up.

However, I can't figure out a way to patch these features that interrupt the surface.

Attached is an f3d sample of the part.

One side has the large intersection example, and the other has a small hole.

Is there any "machine over hole" selection for something like this?

Sorry if the question isn't super clear. I don't quite know enough about CAD or F360 to ask the right questions.

Thanks for the help.

Hi

The easiest way is to create a duplicate of the body, then remove those features from that Body

You can use the Simplify>remove features tool to do that

Then in the toolpath you can select the defeatured body in the model selection of the Geometry Tab

What I spent 6 hours failing at this morning, you turned into a 4 minute change.

That is deadly simply. I love it.

Are there any issues I should watch for when using multiple models for CAM?

Maybe lock them in position together so you don't accidentally shift one with a move command?

Thank you!

Hi

See video

<video-js data-video-id="6365399837112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Also the nice thing about using the defeatured body is is doesn't affect any existing toolpaths in the setups, only the ones that you specifically pick it in.

This can be handy when you don't want to upset already good toolpaths or just want to influence the behavior of one toolpath for instance.

I prefer this method over trying to patch stuff in the surface workspace as the patches can not always be smooth and can have odd U/V directions than can affect the flow toolpath.

I only got into CAM for my machining center a few months ago, and patches seem like a really clunky work around for the things I've been doing (which, to be fair to F360, is turning my models into something useable in CAM)

This is a much better alternative to patches for my use so far.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Your post will same me literally hundreds of hours over the next few years.

You're amazing.
