Hi, I know that profile extensions are not enabled yet for 2d chamfers, it has been said here countless times. But, it is also the case for 3d deburr, and that is not mentioned in the known limitations, so I thought Autodesk would want to know. It shows them correctly (reduce a profile shows that on the screen) but it does not affect the toolpath.

Yeah, I just checked on the Insider build, and it's not working there either (the extension, not the toolpath)

I've raised this with the developers and will open a ticket if needed

Thanks for reporting this @DarthBane55.

I would not expect the extensions to work on this strategy because it does NOT machine the curves directly, but rather, uses the curves to select model edges. So extensions will not have the desired effect. That said, the strategy does support 'Tangential Fragment Extension Distance' (Passes tab), which should actually extend the toolpath.

However, you're absolutely right to point out that when the user is manually selecting edges to deburr, we shouldn't be offering parameters to extend the curve when we know they're not going to have the intended effect. We'll look at this.

Hi @peter.lockyer

'Tangential Fragment Extension Distance' works in general, but the start and end need to be separate. Also, they cannot be negative, so this cannot be used to avoid an obstacle.

I found that adding surfaces to avoid works really well to avoid the obstacles, but in my case i had a few edges that were competing for these surfaces to avoid (selecting 1 face to avoid for 1 edge would remove the entire other edge because it was deburring along that face to avoid...). This negates the benefit of using the smooth transitions, because now I had to create 2 operations for these edges.

It seems that without selecting faces to avoid, the tool goes right against walls, there is no clearance adjustment we can play with like with 2d chamfer. At least I didn't see it. If there is, could you point me to it please, because that would negate the need to select faces to avoid altogether, and we could then deburr more edges within 1 operation, saving precious cycle time.
