topic Can't seem to get true circular motion on gcode despite smoothing in Fusion Manufacture

Hi Everyone,

First, I'm still new to fusion 360 and cnc milling so I suspect this is really user error.

I'm trying to produce gcode for my cnc mill and for any circular shape the code ends up generate very small linear lines instead of a true circle.

I've read through dozens of forums where adding smoothing seems to do the trick but in my case it doesn't work. Both the preview and the actual machining end up with straight lines regardless of the values I put for smoothing and tolerance.
What am I doing wrong?

I've uploaded my file, hopefully in the right format.

Thanks so much!

Your Tolerance and Smoothing are set too tightly. Since Adaptive is a roughing operation and you are using Stock to Leave, I'd open your Tolerance to .0005" and your Smoothing to .001". This brings your file size (for that toolpath) from 74kb down to 24, and much better arc fitting in the resulting toolpath:

versus

Each of those black dots is a point-to-point move.

Oh my goodness you are amazing for 2 reasons: One you actually solved my issue. Two, your reply was informative on several other levels (e.g. it being a roughing operation and therefore needing a finishing operation).

It's likely very basic stuff but for a noob like me it's enlightening. Thanks so much!!

You are quite welcome, glad to help. Don't hesitate to create additional threads as other issues or questions pop up. We all start somewhere with Fusion, so no shame in asking what some may consider a "beginner's question"
