Strategy for tenon?

Hi,

I need help. I've posted 2 pics and my .tap file as .txt. Not sure what would be of most use - please let me know.

I am trying to router the tenons in the image. I am happy with the parallel toolpath except where it gouges right through the stock material between the tenons. I would prefer it to stepdown through the stock and remove it as well as produce the tenon. I have tried 2 and 3d adaptive and many other paths. I cannot seem to just get the tenons cut out, following the curve, and nothing else. Several toolpaths try to also do the engraving that I completed in another path successfully. I ran a contour path that left the stock material in place between the tenons. How do I get the spindle to raise up over the stock for this parallel? Or, some other path entirely...

Thanks!

Jim

Sorry for late response. Please try to use the following settings for you Parallel operation.

Maximum Stay-Down Distance = 0 guaranties that long transitions aren't used.

Full retract guaranties that all retracts are on retract plane.

I have the following result with these settings.

Please let me know if it helps.

Thanks for your input. I was only focused on the tenon portions. If you look at the last photo I posted, I already ran the engrave portion using a 45 degree V-bit. I also ran a contour with tabs around the perimeter using a 1/4 flat end mill.

I adjusted the setup for each toolpath. I am sure not ideal but I ain't no Fusion pro. I don't know how to model the letters other than flat bottom. I knew the V-bit would create a V groove and that was my intent. I'm still learnin. I think the engrave looks good. Here is a better pic. And a pic showing tabs, they came out great! I should also point out that this is a scaled down version of my final product. Testing to make sure I can get the right toolpaths and ultimately, the right outcome. Open to suggestion as I learn and I appreciate your insights and feedback.

I think I know what you mean by setting the text as cutout etc. I could just as easily have set the text flat on the sketch, no extrude and the engrave toolpath would have worked fine.
