Hello everyone!

I am new in turning CAM but already familiar with Fusions milling CAM.

Some days ago I bought a small nice inclined bed lathe with RÖHM hydraulic chuck SAUTER tool turret and Sinumeric 802s control. I am trying to get the setup done but always kind of fail. I tried several scenarios and as below in the pictures this are the ones closest to the right setup. But still as you can see either the tool is switched down and starts from the right side or is positioned right but starts from the wrong side. I tried everything but could not find a solution.

A setup with standard inclined bed lathe should not be ss. revolutionary or am I wrong?

I welcome any help!!

Thanks!

Bernd

When using left handed tools mounted as such in your lathe, you will need to define it as a RH tool. Question; do you have the shims placed on the proper side of the tool block, or should you reverse them and use an actual RH tool? Second question: in the position that the tool is in, will spindle "forward" (M03) turn the material in the correct direction, or will you need to use M04 (reverse)?

I already tried right handed tools in several ways which didn´t work out.

The shims are placed in the right way. When the tool turret lockes for the tool the center fits pefectly. If I turn the tools downside for example the center height does not fit.

The spindel has to turn "clockwise - M03" with the tools fixed like this.

"didn't work out", as in, it didn't look right in the Simulation, or didn't produce code you can use?

I'd expect the visual display of the tool to be incorrect, but the code to be proper. Is that not the case?

Well, I still have to figure it out with the postprocessor.

Both available for Siemens Sinumeric here do not work. I have to adapt them for the relatively old Sinumeric 802s from the year 2000.

If the code is running properly even if the visal display is incorrect I still can not say.

I try to find it out !

With this example I could make the orientation of the tool like it should!

It is strange that I could not do it with any tool example coming with Fusion respectively with the tool I made.

I had to copy your tool and adjust it to the size of mine. Then it worked!

Next step I will do is adapting the postprozessor.

Thank you very much!

Bernd
