Ok so i thought after the last update they may have solved this issue but unfortunately not. Have attached a simple file showing first op adaptive with "Rest Machining" un-ticked. Second op was a derived 3D adaptive with a smaller tool with "Rest Machining" ticked but not able to generate.

Now if you un-tick "Rest Machining" you get the second op repeating what the first op machined away.

So back to the original question, what is going on with the rest machining freezing at 100%??

(Also to note: Im running fusion on 3 different computers and they all have this issue)

After creating a work offset, i then add an adaptive strategy. If i have "Rest Machining" ticked it will freeze at 100% when generating. Doesnt matter what option i select under "rest machining" i get the same error.

Cheers

Shane

Shoot your project over and I can look to see if its user error or a problem with Fusion.

Thanks Dylan.. Im also having issues with "3D Adaptive requiring "Turn" and "Tilt" for 3-axis" error noted here so will wait until that is resolved and see if it changes anything,

Cheers
Shane

Ok I cant wait. Need to find a solution as i have a lot of milling coming up.

First 3D strategy, it just sits on 100% with no tool paths generated. It will only generate once "Rest Machining" Is un-ticked

Part file attached.

Cheers

Shane

I unselected rest machining and got tool path, it's first roughing operation so rest machining is not in reference to anything.

You may wanna look at the chamfering operation, it's wiping out top third of the model.

Some functions are not within my license so I am not messing with rest of the file.

Also if you continue on the second Operation with the below parameters ticked.

You get the same issue. In short, Rest Machining just does not work when ticked.

As for the collision on the tool path, i was aware but didnt bother changing my tool length to suit. I do prototyping so i skip a few steps. But thanks.

I opened your file and without changing a single setting generated both tool paths, it never freezes on my end.

To answer highlighted comment in your post, when you untick rest machining in second operation, that operation is no longer looking at first operation and therefore it considers entire model as opposed to just slot which other tool could not get into,..... expected behavior.

But there is another problem, second operation does not complete the cut to same depth as shown in screenshot.

Now I changed axis orientation in setup, I like to define X and Z or X and Y axis to be in reference to specific features on model.

I checked that both operations have same value in "stock to leave", also changed heights in second operation and depth of passes.

After that I got full tool path for slot, so your original file acts as expected in regards to rest machining but fails to produce accurate results for unexplained reason.

It seems that it takes careful targeting of settings to get desired result and that is not good, too delicate dependency on many settings with no clue as to which one causes failure when it occurs.

As for Fusion freezing on all 3 of your computers, it may have something to do with interference with other software and/or shared files you are running on all 3 computers, if that's the case good luck figuring that one out.

Appreciate you looking at this of course.

I even loaded the file i saved yesterday to see if it was a file importing issue but still it freezes at 100%!

So not sure what to do from here...

OMG!!! That did it. Thanks @seth.madore

I had to toggle it. So it was off but as soon as i turned it on, it came right.

It can either be on or off now and it works.

Thanks for suggesting that! Would never have guessed. Now why would that have locked up? I have used it in the past where i program with it on but when im milling and wanting to do fast updates, i turn it off.

Cheers

Shane

It's one of those "things". Hard to pin down, still a bit of polishing to do....
