What are CID numbers?

Sorry if this seems a bit basic, but, what are CID numbers, what do they specify and where do they come from?

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply

So CID numbers (or pattern Identifying numbers) are industry standard information I guess.

I have looked at Item Creation in CADmep and now understand that the majority of 'new' items can be created based upon existing patterns.

Would a situation arise where a new item is created where a CID pattern does not exist, if so, who assigns CID numbers?

There really isn't an industry standard, but the Autodesk Fabrication products are established products so it is rare to find a pattern that cannot be used for an MEP fitting. If you do have a request for a new pattern then please submit the request along with supporting information like a sketch or specification sheet of the fitting to this community. We monitor the community for requests and consider them for future development. The votes (Kudos) helps to escalate the request.
