How do I setup the database so that decoiled straight & short joints are separated? I tried to simply my database, but over simplified it, now I don't know how to get the straight ducts to report correctly, & I have done way too much work on it to go backwards. Can anyone point me to an article that will explain how to do this?

The variation in language and terminology makes your question ambiguous to me. I wrote a blog about straights that will either confuse you more or clarify how straights work:

https://blog.cadpro.co.nz/building-design/fabrication-straight-talking-cid-866-rules/

Please let me know if you spot any errors in the blog.
