Just an update:

Fixed the DWG in question with some help from an Autodesk tech - it was a serious case of multiple generation xref, objects, data points and other factors causing the entire drawing to react very slow. The card runs the newly built DWG a lot smoother, but I still don't see it on the list of certified hardware recommendations

HELP! Is the nVidia Quadro M2000 NOT certified for CADmep?

Long story short I bought a Quadro M2000 and was unable to install it into an aging DELL XPS8300 without BIOS updating the MoBo. So instead I figured to buy a new Workstation oreinted build that I was hoping would of been better suited for 3D BIM modeling with Fab CADmep and Navisworks.

XPS8300 (Old)

i7 2600 3.4GHz

8GB RAM

Windows 7

HD Radeon 6850 (Aftermarket)

To what I was hoping would of been an upgrade:

New Workstation:

i5 6600 3.3GHz

16GB RAM

Windows 8.1

PNY Quadro M2000

The DWG I was working with on the older PC that caused me to want to upgrade in the first place BARELY runs on the new set up. Going from Top View to an Isometric takes a full 5 minutes, lots of screen black flashing when filling design line, 5 mins to Save the file, 4-5 second delay for the OSNAP node to pop up after moving mouse pointer to a desired location. The file is nearing 100mb and unfortunately I will have to be working with this thing for the next 10 months.

I looked at the recommended hardware list on Autodesk and it shows the Quadro 2000M, Quadro M2000M, Quadro M4000.... It is unnervingly absent of the Quadro M2000

Did I convince my boss to buy a $450 card that doesn't work for CADmep?

Hi @Donovan.james,

Im assuming its a laptop if you have an M2000? If you use the command "3DCONFIG" it should tell you if its using the Quadro for graphics or an intel chip. It is common for laptops to have two graphics chips, your computer might try to be smart about choosing which chip to use and might be using the intel chip to run Cadmep.

See this Autodesk article to see if this is your issue, if it is you should be able to turn this off in the bios:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-uses-the-wrong-graphics-card.html

let us know if it fixes your issues.

Thanks Mark,

The one I have is a desktop Quadro - it is the Maxwell chipset of a new line on the nVidia workstation cards that has unfortunately used M in the name despite not being a notebook version. There is a Quadro M2000M and a M2000 - I have the latter. It is supposedly the replacement for the K2200 at the same price point.

I'll attach my DxDiag along with a screenshot of the 3DCONFIG - I've made a support ticket through Autodesk as well - I'm really hoping it's a driver or settings issue as I will have to be working in this DWG for the next year

I've made a screencast of operating conditions with 3D Acceleration On and Off. About the 1:30 mark is where the DWG in question is loading and lagging. The jerking movements of the screen are actually me trying to be smooth and controlled with mouse panning.

About the 5 min mark I load a fairly more complex model in ESTmep and the operation is fluid, responsive and seems to handle without any hiccups.

Screencast

I don't know if I inserted the screencast correctly so up there is a direct link

3D Acceleration toggle showed little to no difference from what I could tell
