Assemblies

I am able to create basic sub assemblies out of pipe and fittings. Is there a way to create more complex ones using blocks or 3d objects? Could I create a tank or a pump by drawing out a pump and then placing flanges in the appropriate spot?

Easily. The command is CREATE3DMODEL. Attached is the original documentation and the blocks you need on this but I don't know if the documentation has been updated. Basically, create your 3D part (or download from manufacturer), insert the Conndef block at each connection point. Width = size (diameter if pipe), depth = duct depth or 0 if round, type = round, rectangular, or oval.

The Snap point block is to place anywhere you want to be able to have and ENDPOINT OSNAP after it's converted.

How do you control the orientation. does the conndef have to be lined up a particular way for the fitting to come in a certain way.

The insertion point goes at the connector location on your 3D part with the "Depth" facing away from it. You can copy it around, just make sure you edit the sizes as needed and you can't mirror it.

That I understand. I have a few angle valves. I would like it to be like an elbow where the other branch is aligned with the smaller arrow.

So you would have one connector at each connection point, one facing out away from valve, and the other pointing down. Does that make sense or am I misunderstanding you?
