CAM DUCT - Moving to a new PC

Hello,

I have a customer with an old copy of CAM DUCT. I would like to migrate this from the current Windows XP PC and move it onto a new Windows 7 Pro machine.

I've copied the software across to the new machine as well as the Parallel Dongle. When trying to open the PM2000 software I am getting the following error:

No Hardware Lock Found - Error 15

AutoDesk are telling me that they can't help as its no longer supported. Has anyone managed to do this previously? And if so, have they encountered and resolved this error?

Hi,

Although not too familiar with with the old dongles after a quick google of this error with other Autodesk software there is a few things you can try on this webpage:

Its for 3DS Max but the some of the suggestions should still be relevant, I picked this section out which the most useful...

'Missing Lock'
Verify that the hardware lock is actually plugged into the system parallel port. Locks are small and easily swapped to other systems. If machines have recently been moved or replaced, make sure the lock is not still attached to the old CPU. You should also make sure that the lock is attached to the port properly. If the lock is not screwed in all the way, 3D Studio MAX may not recognize the presence of the lock.
The position of the hardware lock can also be a factor in making 3D Studio MAX operate. If you have a chain of locks for different products on the system, try plugging the 3DS MAX lock directly to the parallel port by itself and launch 3DS MAX. If the program runs, add the other locks to the back of the 3DS MAX lock, and launch each program to make sure they all operate correctly.

I had a look for system requirements as well to see if it should run on Windows 7 but could find anything, if you have another XP machine it might be worth to see if this makes a difference.

Hi Mark, thank you for your comment.

I have had a look at the link that you've provided. I'm presuming that when they say make sure its not attached that they are referring to the Parallel dongle? In which case, yes I have moved it.

I've tried adding it whilst the machine is offine and online. Its still not showing.

I can see the Parallel adaptor in device manager but have no way of knowing if the machine sees the dongle?

I know some of the newer dongles have a licence element that links the dongle with the PCs hardware. I wasn't sue if that is the case here?

AutoDesk can't tell me if its compatible with Windows 7 which is part of the problem. The software is actually from 2004 or something...
