We have recently edited our layerstates. What is the best way to update our named views within our template so that the change is reflected in SSM?

How are those two elements even connected please?
And are you using plain AutoCAD (the topic of this forum), or a vertical/different version that actually uses templates to control subsequent DWG files?

Using the "Update Layers" button in the named view dialog box will do the trick, assuming your updated layerstate is set current, but it's also one at a time. Autodesk was VERY short-sighted (as in completely dropped the ball) in the design/workflow aspect of layerstates when dealing with named views . There needs to be a way to apply a layerstate to a group of named views. That entire system needs and overhaul with a lesson in flexibility.
