When I try to export my title block (rectangle 36" x 24") to a .pdf, I use ARCH D paper size which is also 36x24, however my title block goes off the sides of the page when the scale is set to 1:1. How can I fix this?

if your title block rectangle is the exact size of the papare it will never fit at 1:1. the image you wish to create has t0 fit within the confines of your printing area. Change your title block to 35.5X23.5 and it should fit.

Another option is to select one of the "ARCH full bleed D..." page sizes (assuming they're available with the PDF output driver you use), which has zero margins:

If it's not available, you can either modify an existing page size or create a custom page size. (There may be pitfalls to doing this; if so, I'm sure others will point them out.)

I assume when you say Export you mean Plot.

In addition to @TheCADnoob 's suggestion, have you tried using the Window option, selecting the opposing corners of the title block & then sending the plot to PDF?

Hello @scoutctmarine

Do you see a dotted line running next to the edges of your sheet on the layout tab? The area inside the dotted rectangle is known as the printable area. If your titleblock goes beyond (or outside) the printable area then it will get chopped off during print.

Each printer varies in maximum printable area because it depends on how each printer pushes out an individual sheet and how close the printer’s pen can go to the edge of a sheet. There will always be a margin of white space and that margin is referenced by the dotted line.

The easiest way to prevent Cad from chopping off parts of your titleblock is to maximize the printable area.

1) From plot dialog, next to the printer name, click Properties. My specific printer’s name is AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation).pc3 and my target sheet size is 17x11. Refer to image-1.

2) Next, on the Device and Doc Settings Tab, in top box, select Modify Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area). Right below, In Mod Standard Paper Sizes, find your sheet size and click Modify button. My sheet is 17x11, your sheet may vary. (Note: Cad didn't make finding your sheet size easy.) The list is not alphabetical and the view window showing the sheet list is very small. Based on your printer, each sheet size is listed, you just have to find it. Be precise when choosing. Refer to image-2.

3) Then, in Custom Paper Size-Printable Area, reduce all four margins by entering "0" in the top, bottom, left and right boxes. When you do this, the preview thumbnail will update and show the dotted line moving outward to the edge of sheet. Click Next. Click Finish. You can overwrite your pc3 file so you won't have to do this again and again whenever you decide to reuse the exact pc3 AND the exact named sheet. Refer to image-3.

Image-1

Image-2

Image-3

<<Warning: this procedure is applicable on a sheet-by-sheet basis so perform it on all the 'sheet sizes' that are subjected to printing cut-offs. Over write the same pc3 file so your all of your 'custom' margins on all your sheet sizes are contained in the same pc3. Once you've maxed all the printable areas on all of your sheet sizes, you're good to go b/c the pc3 file stores your customized margins.>>
