idea Sheet Underlay en Revit Ideas

Please provide an option for a Sheet Underlay. Similar to a plan underlay, it would show up halftoned, and snap-able. I would like to set up on sheet of plans, then underlay them on a sheet, and use them to align new sheets/views. They should be "Align-able" like views are when on the same shared sheet. This could also work with Sections/Elevations.

Thank you for your consideration.

How would this tool be different from Guide Grid? Guide grid does exactly what you are asking Revit to do in this request. The only difference is you don't underlay a sheet. The guide grid is snappable to grids in the project and therefor aligning views across sheets is achieved. This tool also works with sections and elevations.

Hi @Anonymous,

It would be different in that Guide Grids only allow one point of reference at a time. So I can create a guide Grid for one Plan, then create another for other types of plans, then create another for the View Titles, then another for Schedules, etc. If I can overlay a sheet, then I can make the sheet objects align-able.

Guide Grids are a great start, but they're flawed....

A sheet underlay option would not only be great for plan sheets but really beneficial for schedule and legend type sheets. For instance, having several door schedule sheets where you want the schedule to start at the same place on all sheets, and your door type legend, notes, hardware, etc. positioned in the same place. Guide grids do not provide this flexibility as they may help line one of those up but if everything else does not fall on the grid spacing then you are back to eyeballing the rest.

My workaround is:

I prepare a PDF of "Template sheet".

I insert the PDF i desired sheet.

You can use it as "Underlay"
