idea Convert Shadows to Filled Region - Elevatons en Revit Ideas

One problem we have with the shadows function in Revit is the forcing to Raster at print. It reduces the quality of elevation drawings and means the pdf output is not vector.

There are workarounds but being able to automatically recreate shadows as filled regions on elevations would be especially useful.

So far Dynamo seem to not be able to tackle this either.

Thanks

I just started working with revit after having used AutoCAD sinds 1986.

I had revit suite for over 10 years on subscription but did not use it, this was because I am a 3DS MAX expert user and purchased the Building Premium Suite at the first date it came out.

I am doing my first revit project and after 2 weeks I start to get a bit o feeling for Revit but my biggest critic which makes me hesitate is the very limited and dated printing features in Revit.

Sure Autodesk can do much much beter then this.

Revit has so much advanced features but you can not create a vector format with shadows or colours as filled regions.

Revit may be as advanced as it can, the end result for your clients is the most important part - generating good plans an d drawings are essential. Revit means a step back for me in this area and that is not acceptable.

Hope Autodesk reads this.

I once was a beta tester for 3D Studio VIZ ! a long time ago.

Would be happy to have the shadows as rasters as long as the lines/patterns remain vector! Converting all shadows to filled region would blow up the drawing...

The ability to get a vector outline of shadow extents in a view would be great please.
