idea Simple New Feature: Compile with other PDF files when exporting to PDF en Revit Ideas

There's many times when a user must merge multiple sets from third parties, or modify sheets in Acrobat (or similar PDF tool). For instance, combining MEP, Structural, Civil, shop drawings, and so on with the Architectural set is very common. Or when clean vector PDFs need to be placed on the title block in Acrobat, and then merged into the Revit set.

All of this sheet management must be done manually in Acrobat each time a set is generated. Having the ability to compile them in the Select Views/Sheets dialog box would be immensely useful. When the Revit drawings are exported to PDF, the last step would combine the resulting PDF file with other existing PDF files using the sheet order.

There's no need to actually import or render the PDF in Revit.

An ideal flow:

Under the Select Views/Sheets export, add a button titled "Combine other files".

Select PDF file.

Choose "Select all pages" or filter specific pages with check boxes, or familiar Windows-style "1-10, 14-15, 17" printer settings formatting.

Select OK, and adjust the print order within the Select Views/Sheets dialog box.

Export the PDF.

Resulting PDF file opens with Revit sheets along with imported PDFs.

With the new PDF export/printing, enable the tool to "compile" other .pdfs (namely from our consultants) to create a compiled pdf of our sheets and their sheets into a single .pdf.

That's what programs like Bluebeam are for.

I'd rather that Revit focus on modeling improvements & not things the are external to Revit.

Considering that those sheets are often part of the drawing index in Revit it seems like a good opportunity to take care of it all in one place.

Have you tried using Bluebeam stapler? It makes things so easy. You can have all your sheets plotted separately which makes it very easy to change out one sheet, or email just one sheet (smaller file size), and when you're ready to make one drawing package it takes only a couple clicks.
