idea OTF Support en Revit Ideas

Why does revit still not support .OTF Fonts? Many of clients mandate specific fonts. I see that there are previous idea requests for this going back as far as 2016.

Hi @danbush, there is an easy way around this, you can convert otf fonts to ttf fonts in the cloud for free.
Appreciate this is a workaround but then again its something that you don't need to do every day.

This (probably) violates trademarks and licenses of some (most?) fonts and as others pointed out, a lot of converters produce less than ideal, incomplete results. It seems really odd that this cannot be integrated after all these years and with the emergence of variable fonts only puts Revit and those who use it even further out on the fringes. OTF is not exactly an emerging technology.

I know what you are saying @danbush, a case of what Autodesk thinks is important to focus on and what is not.

Going back to the OTF conversion, you would think that if you only changed the file type it would not be a copyright issue, and you can always ask the font creator/supplier if this was the case.
The conversions I have done look pretty good to me.

Not only is conversion a violation of many copyrights, it is also not useful as when you then send the file to other consultants you also would have to provide the converted version of the font which is absolutely not acceptable. There are a lot of text handling features that Revit should have to be considered capable for documentation, at least having otf support would bring it into the 20th century.

Appreciate you both pointing out the copyright violation, there goes the suggested workaround I mentioned earlier.
