Pendant light fixtures and ceiling fans etc. attach to sloped ceilings sloped and don't "hang" vertically, but in an angle.

There seem to be some elaborate ways to build a family that "hangs" vertically, or to use planes. but it would be good if this was a function so that pendant fixtures hang like they do in nature with gravity.

needs to be built into Revit, but in the mean time.

@m.voss.alvine It's easier to find work arounds for 2d elements, the main issue with pendant lights is the base plate is that it should slope with the ceiling while the cord hangs straight.

I've had the same issue with some roof mounted elements, where I want part of the family to remain vertical/horizontal while the bottom of a curb slopes with the roof.

This feature would also need a way to test it while building a family - perhaps a option to toggle "Host slope" which allows an angle to be put in for testing. Families without Host slope toggled would behave as they do now.

my families have that ability. Here is an example of my pendant can and linear pendant. You can apply the same steps to get them to work on roofs too.

the parameters are shown in the link i posted earlier. here it is again.

none of these work arounds are ideal, but neither is waiting for Autodesk to fix anything in Revit.

It's astonishing (not it a good way) the gymnastics we have to go through to accurately represent such a common occurrence as a pendant light on a sloped ceiling.
