idea Use the mouse wheel to scroll the cut plane in a section view en Revit Ideas

Similar to moving the “cut plane” of a section box, I would like to see an option to use the mouse wheel to “scroll” the cut plane of a section view (forward and backward).

Just to confirm understanding of this, are you referring to the view depth of a section line, or the actual section line position?

If regarding the view depth then have 2 additions to this feature

(1) Same feature for plan views

(2) Need a setting to control the speed/increment of the cut depth

Question how would you differentiate between controlling depth and zooming. Perhaps right click and select option "view depth/adjust view depth..." When completed right click "finish/exit..." or tick on special ribbon... If you have not done the mentioned steps then you would be in zoom mode.

The idea is using the mouse wheel to move the position of the section line.

I like the "right click" option for adjusting view depth.

Thinking about this, by default rolling mouse roller will zoom in/out

A right click to select option (1) Adjust Depth (2) Adjust Position or (3) Increment

Can be use in both elevations (including sections...) and plans

Increment would determine speed at which adjust depth/position would occur. Use a value or a adjustable slider to determine this value?

I appreciate your thoughts on this...
I'd like to clarify your comment "by default rolling mouse roller will zoom in/out". Rather than zooming, rolling the mouse wheel would move the cut plane forward and backward as an aid to the user's visualization of relationships (intersections or conflicts) between model elements much the same as a medical imaging technician would move a 2d cut plane through the 3d scan of an anatomical structure to aid their understanding of that structure.
