My firm often needs to use raster images as backgrounds to layout existing structures or replicate existing details. In Revit, navigating views (pan, zoom) containing raster images (.png, .jpg, etc.) is tortuously janky (definition 2). Hiding images immediately restores normal navigation speed and smoothness.

Revit can already handle raster rendering well in other contexts. Example:

Create a floor family 1 mi^2.

Create a material that contains a high-resolution 1 mi^2 satellite image at correct scale.

Apply material to floor.

Note that Revit performs flawlessly in Realisitic view mode.
